Phobelex was formed in 1978 by Chris Girard and Matt Yagley. Along the way various young adepts took their parts--Jeff Jolly on Bass Clarinet, Rick Thompson on Drum & Keyboards, Kirsten Rogoff on Keyboards and Dave Smith on Drums--until the Phobelex alchemical solution settled down to Chris Girard on Guitar, Paul Swiderski on Keyboard/Rhythm Guitar, John Fulton on Bass and Danny Quinn on Drums. It was this entity that performed and recorded the songs never released outside their performance at Detroit's Bookie's Club, St. Andrew's, Clutch Cargos, Nunzio's, Paychecks, Todds, the Freezer Theater and a once vacant Royal Oak lot. This is the beginning of a website, a testimonial, a remnant of an era when a vibrant music flourished and sweat and effort soaked an elemental time.
